1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Lutheran Faith Network website, mobile applications, and any related services (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Services. We may update these Terms from time to time, and the current version will always be posted at this page with the effective date noted above. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted means you accept those changes.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Services. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. Membership in the online community is invite-only. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, including any invite code, confidential and secure. You may not share, transfer, or sell your account or invite code to another person. You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep that information current.
3. Community Conduct
Lutheran Faith Network is an ELCA-rooted community built on mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and the priesthood of all believers. When using the Services, you agree to treat others with dignity, to participate in good faith, and to avoid harassment, threats, hate speech, defamation, obscenity, spam, or other behavior that disrupts the community. You may not use the Services to promote discrimination, misinformation, or illegal activity. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these expectations.
4. Content You Post
You retain ownership of the content you post, upload, or share through the Services. By posting content, you grant Lutheran Faith Network a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content solely to operate and improve the Services. You represent that you have the right to share any content you post and that your content does not infringe the rights of any third party. We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we determine is otherwise harmful to the community.
5. Intellectual Property
The name "Lutheran Faith Network," the site design, logos, text, graphics, and other materials provided by us are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our materials without our prior written permission, except for your own personal, non-commercial use as permitted by these Terms.
6. Paid Services and Inquiries
Certain paid services, such as weekly sermon subscriptions, shipped consecrated communion elements, congregation website development, and facility evaluations, may be described or offered through the Services. Descriptions and pricing are provided for informational purposes and are subject to change and to a separate agreement between your congregation and Lutheran Faith Network. Submitting an inquiry does not create a binding contract. Services are provided on a best-effort basis and are not a substitute for professional legal, financial, or theological counsel.
7. Termination and Suspension
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms, disrupts the community, or for any other reason we determine necessary to protect the integrity of the Services. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, the licenses and permissions granted to you under these Terms will end.
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lutheran Faith Network disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. In no event shall Lutheran Faith Network be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Services.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lutheran Faith Network, its volunteers, directors, and representatives from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Services, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Services shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Virginia.
